Comparing Penta laser suppliers in the UK
If Penta is on your shortlist, compare a Bodor proposal against the same job specification. Start with your most common material grades and thicknesses, the largest sheet you need to process, required part quality and output per shift.
Penta Laser UK advertises UK installation, training and support. World Machinery offers Bodor supply and after-sales support. Ask each supplier to name the company responsible for delivery, commissioning, training and ongoing service. [3] [6]
Your decision should come from a matched quotation and a cutting trial on representative parts. A headline power rating or maximum movement speed cannot establish the cost or quality of your finished components.
A useful starting point
Bodor and Penta Laser at a glance
These published examples help you identify questions for each supplier. Features, options and availability depend on the exact machine offered.
| What to compare | Bodor / World Machinery | Penta Laser |
|---|---|---|
| Sheet laser choices | Bodor C and P are enclosed sheet-laser ranges. [1] [2] World Machinery also lists large-format and specialist systems. | Penta Laser UK lists SWING and BOLT sheet lasers, alongside WHIRL PLUS for tube work. [3] |
| Published motion example | Bodor P: the manufacturer publishes up to 4G acceleration and 200 m/min positioning speed. [1] | Penta BOLT, UK listing: the supplier publishes 4G acceleration and 200 m/min axis speed. [4] |
| Automation | Bodor loading, unloading and storage options are listed by World Machinery. Confirm compatibility with the chosen machine. [8] | Penta publishes a BOLT VII PRO + PLA COMPACT automatic loading and unloading system. Confirm the UK-supplied configuration. [5] |
| UK installation and service | World Machinery describes installation, training, planned maintenance, diagnostics and parts assistance for Bodor customers. [6] | Penta Laser UK advertises installation, training and support. Obtain the response arrangements and coverage in writing. [3] |
| Warranty information | World Machinery describes five-year care for eligible Bodor laser heads, laser sources and operating systems, subject to the applicable terms. [7] | Penta Laser UK advertises a three-year warranty. Confirm the covered components, exclusions and service conditions. [3] |
| Price and running costs | Request a Bodor quotation for the required power, bed, options, delivery, installation and support package. | Request a Penta quotation against the same brief, and check the same items and operating-cost assumptions. |
Read the figures in context. Motion speed is not cutting speed. Matching maximum figures do not establish matching output on a real job. Regional listings and model generations can differ, so request the written specification for the actual machine quoted.
Compare warranty scope as well as duration. Core-component cover and a general warranty headline describe different things. Confirm parts, labour, travel, consumables, exclusions and maintenance conditions with each supplier.
Make the comparison measurable
Test the parts you actually make.
A useful demonstration starts with your drawings. Ask each supplier to run a representative nest, record the full cycle and return samples you can inspect. Keep the acceptance criteria the same for both.

- 01
Use the same cutting brief
Provide identical DXF files, material grade, thickness, sheet size, part quantities and required tolerances. Include the work you cut most often, as well as your demanding parts.
- 02
Record the complete cycle
Measure loading, setup, piercing, cutting and unloading. Note the laser power, assist gas, pressure, nesting method and any operator intervention.
- 03
Inspect the finished components
Check dimensions, holes, edge finish, dross and any required deburring. Record accepted parts and rejects against your own quality requirements.
- 04
Compare the cost of accepted parts
Use the trial’s gas use, energy use, labour, material utilisation and finishing time. A quicker cutting pass can still require more handling or secondary work.
Look beyond the machine price
Build a complete ownership-cost comparison.
Ask Bodor and Penta suppliers to itemise the same scope. Separate one-off installation costs from ongoing production costs, and use the same working hours and workload when comparing estimates.
What gets you into production?
Machine, options, delivery, positioning, commissioning, extraction, gas supply equipment, electrical work and operator training.
What does each shift consume?
Assist gas, electricity, nozzles, protective windows, labour, material waste, setup time and any finishing operations.
What happens after handover?
Software licences, updates, service visits, planned maintenance, replacement parts and the costs outside warranty cover.
Compare on the same basis: the cost to produce an accepted batch, at the finish and delivery time your customers require.

Which Bodor should be on your shortlist?
Start with the process you need, then match power, bed size, options and budget. These are starting points for discussion; a Penta model name alone does not establish an equivalent Bodor configuration.

Enclosed sheet production
Bodor C Series
A starting point for workshops considering an enclosed sheet laser with straightforward operation. Bodor describes cutting-parameter auto-match, remnant layout and up to 1.5G acceleration. Ask which functions and options are included in your configuration. [2]

Production-focused specification
Bodor P Series
A starting point when positioning performance and automated cutting functions matter to your production brief. Bodor describes one-second edge finding, remnant layout and automatic nozzle changing. Confirm the equipment included in the offered machine. [1]
Working with large plates, tubes or profiles? Explore the Bodor H Series, our tube laser range and automation options. Sheet and tube machines need separate specification comparisons.

Questions for both suppliers
- Who installs and commissions the machine?
- What operator and maintenance training is included?
- How are technical issues reported and prioritised?
- Which parts are stocked, and where?
- What service response is contractually agreed?
- What does the warranty actually cover?

Bodor vs Penta Laser: buyer questions
Is this a Penta Laser sales page?
This is a World Machinery guide to comparing Penta Laser with Bodor alternatives. World Machinery is the Bodor supplier represented on this page. For a Penta quotation, contact a Penta supplier directly; enquiries here go to World Machinery about Bodor.
Are Bodor and Penta machines directly equivalent?
Equivalence depends on the quoted model, generation, working area, laser power, cutting head, controls and options. Match those details and test the same work before drawing conclusions about output or suitability.
Does the same laser power mean the same cutting performance?
Power is one input. Material grade, thickness, assist gas, cutting head, parameters, nesting, handling and required finish also affect the result. Compare complete job times and accepted samples for your own application.
Which brand has the lower running cost?
That requires comparable job data. Ask both suppliers for gas and energy assumptions, consumable costs, maintenance requirements and a timed sample-cut trial. No general cost saving is established by this guide.
How should I compare the warranties?
Read the applicable terms for each quotation. Check eligible components, cover duration, exclusions, labour, travel, maintenance obligations and the process for making a claim. The number of years alone does not describe the whole support package.
Can I arrange a Bodor demonstration or quotation?
Yes. Contact World Machinery with your material grades, thicknesses, maximum sheet or tube size, drawings, quantities and purchase timescale. The team can discuss a suitable Bodor specification and demonstration or test-cut arrangement.
